HB 158: PRODUCTION OF EVIDENCE – Adds to existing law to establish provisions regarding media source confidentiality.
Creates Idaho Code § 9-714 establishing media source confidentiality protections. Journalists cannot be compelled to disclose sources or unpublished newsgathering materials in legal proceedings, except for national security or imminent physical harm cases. Effective July 1, 2025.
