HB 253: PUBLIC RECORDS – Amends existing law to provide additional time to respond to requests for public records from nonresidents and to allow a different fee schedule to fulfill nonresident requests.
Amends Idaho public records law to provide state/local agencies more time (up to 21-35 days) to respond to nonresident requests and allows separate, higher fee schedules for nonresidents while maintaining favorable terms for Idaho residents. Includes technical corrections and emergency clause effective July 1, 2025.
