HB 397: EDUCATION – Amends existing law to revise provisions regarding civics instruction.
Amends Idaho Code §33-1602 to revise civics instruction requirements. Replaces local civics test with state-developed assessment covering Idaho American government content standards, effective 2026-2027 school year with grandfather clause for students graduating before Jan 1, 2029. Declares emergency effective July 1, 2025.
