HB 434: PUBLIC UTILITIES – Adds to existing law to prohibit public utilities from using customer funds for certain lobbying expenses.
Prohibits Idaho public utilities from using customer funds for political expenditures, lobbying, or influencing elections. Requires annual reporting to the Public Utilities Commission, with refunds and fines up to 20x violation amount for noncompliance. Effective July 1, 2025.
