HB 85: ELECTIONS – Amends existing law to provide that the governor may veto certain initiative petitions approved by the voters and for voters to override a governor’s veto.
Amends Idaho Code sections 34-1811 and 34-1813 to revise initiative petition voting procedures and introduce a gubernatorial veto process for initiatives approved by majority but less than two-thirds of voters, with voter override at the next general election. Makes technical corrections and declares an emergency.
