SB 1055: ELECTRONIC PAYMENT TRANSACTIONS – Adds to existing law to establish provisions regarding electronic payment transaction interchange fees.
Prohibits charging interchange fees on state/local taxes and gratuities in electronic payment transactions when separately identified by merchants. Requires payment card networks to deduct or rebate such fees, with civil penalties for violations. Effective January 1, 2026.
