HB 528: DIRECTED BLOOD PRODUCT TRANSFUSION – Adds to existing law to establish provisions regarding directed blood product transfusion.
Establishes provisions allowing patients to provide their own or directed donor's blood products for transfusion through federally compliant blood establishments. Prohibits healthcare providers from refusing such donations except in cases of donor/patient harm, insufficient time, or emergencies. Provides liability immunity for providers except in gross negligence cases. Effective July 1, 2026 as emergency legislation.
