HB 642: PUBLIC EMPLOYEE RETIREMENT SYSTEM – Amends and repeals existing law to establish public safety officer catastrophic injury or death in the line of duty benefits.
Amends Idaho Code §59-1352B to extend catastrophic line of duty benefits to surviving spouses and dependent children of public safety officers killed in the line of duty, matching the $500,000 lump sum and $75,000+ annual pension available to catastrophically injured officers. Repeals prior death benefit statute §59-1361A. Funded primarily by employee contributions.
