SB 1224: TRANSPORTATION – Adds to existing law to establish provisions regarding slow moving vehicles.
This bill clarifies rules for slow-moving vehicles including farm tractors, construction equipment, and implements of husbandry. It adds an exception so these vehicles do not violate obstruction laws if no safe or appropriate turnout exists. On two-lane highways, drivers must pull over at the next safe location when three or more vehicles are lined up behind them. The measure was amended in committee, passed both chambers unanimously, and became effective July 1, 2026.
