SB 1228: CIVIL RIGHTS – Amends existing law to provide that freedom from discrimination because of sexual orientation or gender identity is a civil right.
Amends Idaho Human Rights Act to add protections against discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in employment, public accommodations, real property transactions, and education. Adds definitions for these terms and declares emergency effective date of July 1, 2026.
