SB 1351: STATE OFFICE VACANCIES AND DUTIES OF THE GOVERNOR – Amends existing law to provide for certain ineligibility for reappointment to the same position following express Senate rejection.
SB1351 amends Idaho law to bar reappointment for one year to any position that the Senate has expressly rejected. The original version also required the governor to fill Senate-confirmed vacancies within 90 days and updated holdover rules. A House amendment deleted most of those additional provisions, revised the title, and added an emergency clause for immediate effect upon signing. The bill passed the Senate unanimously and has completed second reading as amended in the House, where it awaits third reading.
