SB 1392: DEFINITIVE IDENTIFICATION – Amends existing law to provide for the confirmation that a decedent has been definitively identified prior to cremation.
Amends Idaho Code § 54-1143 to require definitive identification of decedents by physicians, PAs, APRNs, or coroners before cremation applications, using methods like fingerprinting, DNA, photo ID, or visual ID by next-of-kin. Provides liability protection for compliant funeral establishments, cemeteries, and crematories. Declares emergency effective July 1, 2026.
