SB 1418 would have added a new chapter to Idaho law creating the Kratom Consumer Protection and Safety Act. The bill defined adulterated kratom products (those with excessive 7-OH, synthetics, or contaminants), banned their sale, set a minimum purchase age of 21, required processor certifications, specific labeling with disclaimers, and enforcement by the Department of Agriculture and State Police using civil penalties. It included preemption of stricter local rules. After committee amendments, the bill failed on third reading in the Senate by a 15-20 vote on March 30, 2026 and is now dead.
